***NOTICE - JOB POSTINGS***
Welcome to the Amherst Fire District Web page. We are pleased that you have chosen to give us a look, and hope that you will return again to see new information and up-dates.
The Amherst Fire District was formed in 1992 by consolidating the small local fire departments into one district. At the time each department was struggling with having the funds and members to meet the increasing demands of the fire service. By consolidating, we pooled together the resources at hand and started working towards improved and expanded services to our area. In 1995 we constructed our fire station on the corner of Fair Ground Road and Packer Avenue. The fire station now houses all fire district equipment and administrative offices. Our training is done in-house as much as possible by one of our four Certified Instructors.
The fire district is responsible for fire suppression, vehicle/farm rescue, ice/water rescue, public safety education and Emergency Medical Services. We are owned by the Township of Amherst and the Villages of Nelsonville, Amherst Jct. and Amherst. We also provide contracted services to the Townships of New Hope, Lanark and Stockton. See map.
Again I welcome you to our site and hope you visit us again.
